ITscam Quotes From Bay StreetTrustOnlyMulder at 08:17 am on December 30, 2005
Last night on CTV's 11 pm news, several high level Bay Street executives were quoted regarding what they knew and when they knew it. I have inserted links to the story board screenshots of the announcement.
Having been aware of an announcement coming 4 hours prior to Goodale giving it, Don Drummond, Chief Economist of TD Bank said:
"A lot of people seemed to know there was an announcement (coming) and a few people seemed to know what it was." He also heard that "Liberal strategists in Ottawa" were the source.
Jim Leech, Sr. Vice President of the Ontario Teacher's Pension Fund said:
"I got a bunch of emails around 2pm saying for sure Goodale was making an announcement after the close." (of trading)
Despite his lawyers saying he should not give his name, Sandy McIntyre, Vice President of Sentry Select Capital Corp. (controlling over $3 Billion in investments) said he sent this email to staff at 3:04pm the day of the announcement.
"There is a strong rumour out of Ottawa that Goodale is going to pronounce after the close today his trust solution... hope my sources are right!"
McIntyre said his sources were quoting "Well-connected Liberals."
They then went on to point out that the head of the Toronto Stock Exchange, Richard Nesbitt, purchased $759,242.00 and when the stock went up the next day after the general public knew, his purchase was valued ~$100,000 higher. I must point out that Nesbitt was not in town to comment but that his defense will be based on the fact it was his last chance to add to his core holdings before the end of the calendar year.
I am not sure why this would be the case unless he has insider trading clauses regarding the stocks in question. The exchange is still open through December so I am curious what the basis is for this being his "last chance."
I have also sent CTV an email asking if the "RE: Goodale" in the email graphic was their own wording or that of the email title. If it was the email title, then I would love to see the original email chain. I'll let you know what they say.
