National Council Fake Email Duping Some, But Not All

Sub-Category: Election 2006

Yesterday I got a voicemail asking If I received an email from the National Council that appears to be a fake. I did not.

But some did. And some are even libeling Stephen Harper about it. And this site has the balls to label their site

Diverse opinion on Canadian and global matters pertaining to: environmental concerns, social issues, human rights issues, animal rights issues, government fiscal responsibility, reduction of debt burden for future generations, and anything else that could ever be controversial!

What a joke.

Back to the email. It is clearly a hoax. It has already been pointed out that the email has origins from a domain name being hosted (with no page up) on a server in St. Petersburg, Russia.

From what I have found out, their is a response coming from the National Council on this and I should have a copy soon to defend against this incredulous undermining of the Tories by some loose Liberal cannon.

In addition, I would like to ask the Canadian Youth Blogger above if he feels it is alright for Tony Valeri to sue Bourque.com. If so, I can't wait for the Tory lawyers to rip him a new one for his remarks on Harper.

Addendum - Monday January 16th, 2006 - 12:08pm EST

Here is a copy of the email. Again, this email is 100% bogus.

Subject: Just a few days left...nothing to worry about.

Dear Fellow Conservatives,

These are exciting times. Here we are in the home stretch?.on our way to victory in Election 2006! In just a few more days, our Leader, Stephen Harper will become the next Prime Minister of Canada!

As your Chair, I want to thank each and every one of you for your work in bringing us so close to the victory. During a campaign like this one, it is not always possible or wise to speak about every detail of our plans. Don't be confused or upset by Stephen saying that he has "evolved". After all, winning is the name of this game.

When we form Government on Jan 23rd, be rest assured that we will not let you and your families down. As promised, all the issues that are precious to you will be dealt with. We will have the power to get on with repairing the social fabric of this country and restoring the Christian values we all hold dear.

Keep the faith, keep up the pressure and God Bless Canada.

Don
