You either pay attention or pay through the nose. I would rather pay attention.
“A society that puts equality before freedom will get neither. A society that puts freedom before equality will get a high degree of both.”

Today is the last day of the 2016-2017 NHL season. And it is time again for me to bring up the Curse of Michael Buble. Many ask, how could the Vancouver Canucks fall from such graces as getting to the 7th game of the NHL finals a few years ago and then turn into the unmitigated disaster that they have become the last 6 seasons since that 2011 final. Even Don Cherry has no clue.
But us insiders know the truth. It all comes down to the triple curse placed on the team by yours truly after Michael Buble said the bandwagon was too small for Canada to chear for his Canucks and that we should get our own team. I think Michael Buble needs to give me a call and have me remove the curse. With results like those below, what do you think?
2011 – They lost in game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals after the curse was enacted before game 7.
2012 – They were a one seed and lost in 5 games to the lowly 8th seeded Los Angeles Kings.
2013 – They were a 3 seed and lost in 4 straight to the 6th seeded San Jose Sharks.
2014 – They missed the playoffs for the first time since the 2007-2008 season
2015 – They were the second seed in the Pacific division and lost in 6 games in the first round to the lower ranked Calgary Flames.
2016 – They finished 2nd last in the Western Conference missing the playoffs
2017 – They missed the playoffs and will finish the season as one of the worst 2 or 3 teams in the Western Conference
The triple curse.
ACK ACK ACK! SIX SIX SIX, Number of the Beast! Noonan!!
And so seven straight years of hockey misery sits firmly on the shoulders of the crooner.
Acorn Ottawa picketed in front of Money Mart’s in the east end to protest the density of agencies that provide temporary loans. They say these agencies corner citizens and trap them like animals leaving them in an endless loop of poverty.
So what are they asking for? A minimum distance between agencies and higher licensing fees.
Let’s take these two items and look at them.
Minimum distances between agencies to be mandated.
This will reduce the number of agencies in the area giving the patrons fewer options. It also means that should a patron want to compare prices they would have to travel further to determine which location or outlet is offering the best deal. So in effect, this request would make it harder on patrons to do what is best for them and leave them at the whim of their closest outlet.
This also reduces the supply of services which, if we pay attention to microeconomic supply and demand curves, will drive up prices further hurting the patrons of these businesses.
Higher License Fees to Operate a Money Loan Establishment
Higher license fees to operate the business means one of three things.
All of these options hurt the local community.
So what does this all add up to? ACORN is actually hurting those it is most out to help because it does not understand the simple concepts of supply and demand. Shame on ACORN. You are OfficiallyScrewing over Ottawa residents with your antics.
John McClane would be so proud.

Canada will not go to the Paris climate change talks with a new target, or a concrete framework to reduce carbon emissions, according to Catherine McKenna, the minister for the environment and climate change.
What?? You snivelling neanderthal knuckle dragging anti environmental, climate change denying, selling out of the future of our children, ruining the planet, ice cap melting, atmosphere polluting conservat…….oh wait……She’s a Liberal. Nevermind…Nothing to see here.
ADDENDUM:
CBC changed the headline from the original, probably to protect the Environment Minister. Seems softer now not connecting her to Harper’s targets.
How bad is this?
Well let’s do the math. By comparison, the worst oil spill in history was during the Gulf War in Kuwait and it was 240 to 336 MILLION Gallons. At 3.78 Liters per Gallon the worst case scenario for the oil spill was just shy of 1.3 BILLION Litres.
So Oil Spill of 1.3Billion Liters is bad. But Raw Sewage spill of 8 Billion Litres is ok.
Well done Minister for the Environment, Catherine McKenna. Your first week on the job and you are already making a massive impact on the environment. Too bad it’s in the wrong direction.
Talk about being OfficiallyScrewed!!!
This blog name accurately describes Canada under 4 years of a Justin Trudeau government.
End of report.
