Someone Put His Foot In His Mouth

I have to say that my daughter Cookie is the most amazing, loving, caring, precious, wonderful young lady on the planet.  Bar none.  She is better than your daughter because she is MY daughter.  And as her father, I would do anything to keep her happy….Anything.

OOLCI believe the above statement is probably true for anyone with a daughter, including our Ontario Ombudsman Andre Marin, whose daughter just happens to be dating the grand nephew of long time Liberal Cabinet Minister Bob Chiarelli.

BobChiarelliUnder normal circumstances this would be just peachy.  But we have a problem here.  Marin is charged with investigating thousands of complaints against HydroOne. HydroOne is under the auspice of the Minister of Energy, who happens to be……you guessed it….Bob Chiarelli.

This begs the question….Where in the world would this type of conflict of interest be acceptable?  The answer is clear.  In Liberal run Ontario, Canada, that’s where.

Mister Marin may indeed be impartial on this but this certainly does not pass the sniff test.  My prediction is that Marin will delete the tweet and break up the lovebirds.

OfficiallyScrewed in my opinion.

Kathleen Wynne Nickels and Dimes Small Businesses

Today Kathleen Wynne’s Liberals raised miniumum wage in Ontario from $10.25 to $11.00. Either she doesn’t do math or she is nickel and diming.  She announced that she would tag the rise to inflation since 2010 when it was last raised.

Yet by my math when I take the CPI inflation rate in Canada over the past 4 years and multiply the rate by the current $10.25 minimum wage I get a $10.96 minimum wage.

CPI inflation for 2010 – 2.35%

CPI inflation for 2011 – 2.30%

CPI inflation for 2012 – 0.83%

CPI inflation for 2013 – 1.24%

So $10.25 x 1.0235 x 1.0230 x 1.0083 x 1.0124 = $10.955

So she has just tagged in an added 4.45 cents.  You may think this is paltry but it is another way she is nudging Ontario small businesses over the cliff a nickel at a time.

Officially Screwed….again.

How Paranoid About Religion Must One Be?

I am stunned that someone actually felt the terms B.C. and A.D. need to be changed because they refer to Christianity. But in this article, the reversal of this decision is discussed.

The museum, like many institutions that study history, some time ago dropped BC (for “before Christ”) and AD (for “anno Domini,” the Latin phrase for “in the year of the Lord”) in describing dates. Instead, it has used CE (for “common era”) and BCE (before the common era). But no more.

How screwed up is that?

The Canadian Museum of Civilization in Ottawa went with the new terms but are reversing the decision for interactions with the public and only maintaining the BCE and CE terms for academic purposes.  Why even bother?

The best quote to describe this was made by Kelly McParland, who said:

It’s my opinion that the museum is playing with fire. Maybe that’s why they’re changing their own name from Canadian Museum of Civilization to the Canadian Museum of History. Which is presumably being done to avoid offending the uncivilized.

Legislated to Death…or at Least into the Poorhouse

 gavel

January 1st, 2013 was an amazingly sad day for Californians.  They had over 800 new laws to abide by.

800.

That’s 2 over 2 laws per day of the year.

How does a state pass that many laws?  Where do they find the time?

The “Why do they pass this many?” question is easy.  It’s a cash grab.  Most of these laws have fines.

I am taking this opportunity to iterate my firm belief that for every new law created, legislatures should need to remove 2 old ones.  It’s the only way our freedom will be returned.  At this rate, we will not be able to breathe without the state endorsing it.

My prediction:  By 2050 there will be a law to tell you how many breaths you can take and everyone will be legally required to wear one of those work out monitors that uses bluetooth to communicate to our bioembedded cellular device that tattles to the state if we breathe too much.

Californians are OfficiallyScrewed.

Obama, Biden applied political pressure on DoE to fund cronies in Enviro-Gate

Committee on Oversight and Government Reform released over 150 emails that show both President Obama and Vice President Biden were applying pressure big time.  Here are some quotes.

“I am growing increasingly worried about a fast track process imposed on us at the POTUS level based on this chaotic process that we are undergoing…by designing the fast track process and having it approved at the POTUS level (which is an absolute waste of his time!) it legitimizes every element and it becomes embedded like the 55% recovery rate which also was imposed by POTUS.”

“You better let him know that WH wants to move Abound forward. Policy will have to wait unless they have a specific policy problem with abound.”

“Pressure is on real heavy on SF [Shepherds Flat] due to interest from VP.”

The whole story is just coming out but it can’t be good for the Obama/Biden ticket.

Read more about it here and here.

Methinks the American taxpayer got OfficiallyScrewed.

“Professional” Media Commentators Outted as New Democrats (5 Years After I Called One Of Them Out)

Hallelujah!!!

Back in February 2007, I wrote this (at the end of a blog post)

Mr. Attaran should produce a bit more evidence before making allegations as he has.
Judge him for yourself. Mr. Attaran has written for the Globe and Mail (left leaning), The Washington Post (left leaning), The New York Times (VERY left leaning) and his previous employer was the “Sierra Legal Defence Fund” (Granola crunching, left leaning, tree hugging, legal action group).
I think Mr. Attaran should come clean. His actions indicate he wants Canada out of Afghanistan. Just like his buddy Jack Layton.
ADDENDUM: Actually, Mr. Attaran is quoted on page 3 of one of Alexa McDonough’s “Global Perspectives” flyers from 2003

And finally someone in the main stream media has caught on. And once again it is the Sun Media chain that breaks the story so many others choose to ignore.

And the unsuccessful NDP leadership campaign of Ottawa MP Paul Dewar accepted a $1,200 donation from University of Ottawa law prof Amir Attaran>
