I can’t say I am disappointed that Kingsley is gone.
I just hope that his replacement pays attention to some of the things that make it easy to cheat our electoral system.
And if you don’t believe me on how easy it is to cheat our system, just ask this guy.
One more potential liberal that could get in our way is gone. Good ridance.
I doubt that JPK was “biased” as we understand the term. But he certainly left several results seemingly unvestigated where the Liberals returned over 100% of the vote.
That there are questions remaining is, sadly, only a testament to the many reforms which Kingsley left undone. He did manage to bring Canada’s electoral system forward by several decades, even while leaving much room for future improvement.
Let’s hope that he recommends to his successor (and that the recommendation is accepted) that the reforms continue to accelarate.
I do not know where anyone gets the idea that he was Liberal, as Brian Mulroney appointed him in 1990 !
Lizt (#3), I never said Kingsley was a Liberal. I just said I was glad he is gone. When an American student can get a ballot with a student ID and phone bill then something is wrong.
When someone can swear an oath and get a friend on the election list with no proof of citizenship and then the next election that friend can swear an oath and get another friend on the list, then speeding up reform is not what we need. A complete overhaul is what we need.
I am still fuming that prisoners were given the vote….and who was head of EC when THAT happened?
Is not Mulroney a liberal? Besides elections Canada had been fully infiltrated via liberals such that during elections they would choose to ignore complaints from the other parties against the liberals. Why is that the case?
